Why was America's workforce large after WWII?

    In order to meet the production needs of the wartime industry, thousands of women got employed in factories, taking jobs that were previously done only by men. Also large numbers of African Americans incorporated into the industrial workforce during the war years. That led to an enlargement of the American labor force following WWII.
