    Space around the edge of the page is considered as a Margin.

    Explanation:

    If writing on page goes all to the edge of paper then text lack margins. Margin determines where the text starts and it ends. Margin and indents have different meaning. Margin affect the overall document whereas indent affect the particular paragraph. Darker parts in print layout of the document is page margin. There are two methods of providing margins to the document. First is by moving the vertical ruler and second by opening the dialog box in inputting desired margins.
