    Weaken

    Explanation:

This question has no wrong answer, because it is an opinion based question. However, prominent founding fathers such as George Washington were against the formation of political parties, because they believed political parties would cause people to care more about their party then a particular politicians View on an issue. it is much like when people root for a particular sports team, but in this case the teams are as we know them the Republicans and the Democrats. In short Washington would prefer that we judge a politician based solely on their views on the issues of the time rather than what party they belong to.
