The first part of the 1800s was a period of economic and population growth in America, economy in that time depended mostly on slavery which was cheap labor which made it possible for landowners to have most of the profit for them without the need to pay wages. When the cotton gin was invented the demand for cotton grew even more, which also pushed for the growth of slavery especially on the Southern States where most of the cotton farms ere located.
