The Progressive era was a period that went from 1890 to 1920 and was characterized by an interest in improving the conditions for average American people. The main reason why this was an issue had to do with a large wave of corruption and abuse brought about by industrialization. Big corporations abused their power and working conditions were not fair for most people. There was a lot of corruption so an effort was made to protect the public interest. There were several progressive presidents, but Theodore Roosevelt was one of the most active and relevant ones.
