An increased demand for books during the 1500's meant that more books were written in the vernacular.

    Explanation:

During 1500, there was great demand for books that led to writing of more books in the vernacular. There was mass production of books in 1555, due to introduction of printing press in Gutenberg.

Writer, William Caxton was the first person to start printing press in England. The demand for his books made him to start the press. The Canterbury Tales was his first book. Later Caxton started to translate many books. He simply translated French words into English and released it, due to huge demand.
