How was the continental navy able to hold its own against britain's Royal Navy?

    Explanation:

    The Continental Navy hardly had any part in the Revolutionary war. It's main objective was to intercept British supplies, but even in that it didn't have any major role. The new nation didn't have the resources or money to fight the British at sea. However, the French were able to take care of the threat at sea.
