    C: The Massachusetts Bay Colony

    Explanation:

After the great wars against Natives at the end of 18th Century Plymouth, New England and some other territories were merged with Massachusetts Bay Colony and continued their history as a part of that colony.

The first governor of Massachusetts Bay Colony, John Winthrop, gave the floor during the proclamation of the first governor, which he called the Model of Christian Mercy, and which basically had the idea that Boston had a special covenant with God. After the founding of the city, the settlers intended to create a modern city with a well-organized civic structure, and from that desire founded the first elementary and secondary schools, Boston Latin School (1635) and the first American university, Harvard College (1636). By the mid-1700s, Boston was the largest city in British North America.
