    Explanation:

    He was one of the most important artists in the history of rhythm & blues. After playing in swing orchestras, he founded his own band in 1945. With that group, he toured the United States extensively as the "California Rhythm and Blues Caravan", earning several successes in 1952. As a music producer, he discovered several artists, also becoming an influential DJ in Los Angeles. Otis passed away in 2012.
