    That's right. The Netherlands have always been a Protestant land since the early times of Reformation. By mid-16th century, the Netherlands were a Protestant stronghold in Europe, the Dutch knew the ideas of Martin Luther and John Calvin. Calvinism arrived around 1540. The Dutch resented Spanish domination and Catholicism, and they fought both.
