    I will mention two. A first major result of the Mexican-American War was that the US was able to increase its territory by one third, by forcing Mexico to cede Utah, New Mexico, California, Nevada, Arizona, Texas and western Colorado, acquiring 1,300,000 square kilometers more of territory. The other important outcome is that the US managed to fulfill the Manifest Destiny, the goal of westward continental expansion, reaching the shores of the Pacific Ocean.
