    What they wanted to avoid was the tyranny that the British crown exerted to the American colonies with the heavy taxation and other types of control. Although people such as Alexander Hamilton favored a strong federal government, anti-federalists such as Thomas Jefferson opposed to the idea of a strong central government and that is why he wrote the Bill of Rights.
