    The Hammurabi Code was a set of laws to organize and control society, created in Mesopotamia, towards the 18th century BC. C. The creator was King Hammurabi, responsible for founding the first Babylonian empire.

    Hammurabi receives from Shamash, God of the sun and justice, the laws of fairness and justice, arranged in 46 columns of 3,600 lines. In it the laws of his time, of a kingdom of unified cities, a grouping of casuistic, civil, criminal and administrative provisions are codified.
