How did the goals of the jamestown colonists differ from puritan colonists in massachusetts?

    The Jamestown colonies differed from those of Massachusetts Bay in that they were founded to make profit. The Massachusetts Bay Colony on the other hand was founded to create religious paradise particularly for the Puritans and was never interested in profit

    The goals of these two colonies differed mainly in the reason why they were built. In the case of Jamestown, the colonists who established it wanted to benefit from the abundance of natural resources that they found in the region. Therefore, they wanted the colony to be profitable and economically successful. This was different from the goal of Massachusetts. In this case, the Puritans wanted a place where they could establish a peaceful farming community. They cared less about profitability than they did about peace and tolerance.
