The Kerner Commission was a presidental comission created in 1967 by President Lyndon B. Johnson to investigate the factors which have caused the race riots that had taken place in Detroit in the same year. These were the bloodiest and more destructive riots in US history, and they were confrontations between black citizens and the Detroit Police Department.
