    Both of these novels had a tremendous impact on the attitude that was directed towards African Americans during the mid 19th century.

    The novels garnered praised by the abolitionists and ignited massive protest by slave supporters since the focus of the novels were centered on the horrendous quality of life and many injustices suffered by slaves.

    They also centered on the idea of freedom and a way to put an end to slavery, with that, sparking notions of supporting the abolitionist movement.
