Andrew Jackson was president of the US between 1829 to 1837. In the last years of his presidency, he faced a series of economic troubles that were brought by the Bank War. The Bank War was the campaign that Jackson started to destroy the Second Bank of the United States, it started after his reelection.

Jackson vetoed a bill that would renew the Second Bank's charter, to prevent the renewal he also reduced the bank's economic power despite advice on the contrary. This caused a series of economic troubles which eventually led to the Panic of 1837.
