Option C, it destroyed civilian and military targets, is the right answer.

    Explanation:

A military campaign led by General William Tecumseh with his troops of Union Army during the Civil War is known as Sherman's March to the Sea.

The campaign began when the troops of the Union Army under the leadership of Sherman left the captured city of Atlanta on 15th November 1864. The Union Army during this campaign followed the policy of "scorched earth". Following this policy, the Union troops destroyed military targets, industries, civilian property and infrastructure to disrupt the economy and transportation networks of Confederation. This campaign broke the back of the Confederacy and resulted in their surrender.
