Was the American revolutionart war a war of freedom or a war of treason?

The American Revolutionary War (1775-1783), also known as the American War of Independence, was an 18th-century war between Great Britain and its Thirteen Colonies (allied with France) which declared independence as the United States of America.

The perception of the war depends on one's perspective. If you were a supporter of the revolutionary cause, you considered the American Revolution a revolutionary cause. The Declaration of Independence presents a justification for revolution based on natural rights. If you were a Loyalist, an individual who believed in the British cause and felt that the colonists should remain loyal to the British empire, you would have considered the revolution a war of treason.
