In 1900, the central issue of the presidential election was imperialism. William Jennings Bryan and William Mckinley were the two leading candidates in this election. While the Democrats candidate Jennings was totally against imperialism, the Republican candidate Mckinley embraced imperialism. On November 6th, Mckenley won the election.
