the U. S. government is based on a system of checks and balances. Describe some of the checks and balances they discuss why the framers might have created such a government?

    The system makes sure all branches of government have the same level of power. Example: the Legislative branch can veto a bill from the Executive branch, but the Executive branch can override the veto. No branch can hold all the power.
