Why did the Mali Empire come to an end?

After the Ghana fell because invading forces and internal disputes Mali rose to greatness under the leader of a legendary king named sundials the lion king later another great leader rose named Mansa Musa who had extended the empire however after his death his sons could not hold the empire together.
