19. Why did the Egyptians use the mummification process on their dead? They believed it would keep the corpses from rising to the surface. They had not perfected an easy and safe method of cremation. They believed this would protect their dead relatives from grave robbers. They believed the body should arrive in the afterlife safely and intact.

    They use the Mummification because the Egyptians believed that when someone would die there soul would the there body.

    And they said that the soul would return and be reunited with its body.

    Meaning they persevered the bodies for use in afterlife.
