The correct answer is - Nigeria.

Nigeria is a West African nation. It is a large country with large growing population. It is also very rich in natural resources, including oil, and it has an excellent location.

Despite having all the basic advantages for it to be a prosperous and wealthy country, Nigeria is the total opposite of it. It has large oil and natural gas reserves, lot of rivers that provide conditions for production of electricity, as well as lot of sun hours, but most of the population doesn't have benefit from the energy, for much of the day lacking electricity, and not being able to afford basic things. The agriculture is still predominantly of the subsistence type, thus being with low productivity and the products mostly used for consumption by the people engaged in it, not making profit from it. More than half of the population lives bellow the poverty line and do not have basic living conditions.

All of this can largely be attributed to the terrible policies and incredibly high corruption of the politicians in the country, having most of the countries wealth concentrated in them, while the rest of the population barely manages to survive.
