As a result of the war between eastern Pakistan and western Pakistan in 1971, the liberation of Bangladesh was obtained.

In December 1971, India decided to support the armed forces of eastern Pakistan to secure their release.

The armed conflict began on December 3rd of 1971 and ended 13 days after western Pakistan's surrender and the emergence of Bangladesh as an independent nation.

The eventual outcome of this conflict was the independence of East Pakistan, which was renamed Bangladesh.

Until 1971, Bangladesh was part of Pakistan, being its eastern region. Pakistan was formed as a separation from India due to religious differences, being Pakistanis of Islamic religion and Indians of Hindu religion.

But the geographical, cultural and ethnic separation between the two subdivisions of the country made that, in 1971, in the middle of the Indo-Pakistani war, East Pakistan begin its war of independence, which resulted in a victory and independence under the name of Bangladesh.
