Why did the people have to wander for 40 years? (In the Bible)

A. They had to wait for the entire generation of those who doubted God to die out.

B. It was supposed to be 10 years, but they sinned again.

C. They got lost.

D. They got entangled in battles with the kings of the wilderness.

    not one of the men who have seen My glory and the signs I performed in Egypt and in the wilderness-yet have tested Me and disobeyed Me these ten times - not one will ever see the land I swore to give their fathers. None of those who have treated Me with contempt will see it.

    34. For forty years-one year for each of the forty days you explored the land-you will suffer for your sins and know what it is like to have me against you.'
