In the federal government who must sign law before it can go in effect

    After going through the House of Representatives and the Senate, Bills are sent to the President, who reviews it and makes a decision on whether to sign it into a law or veto it. Once a bill becomes a law it goes into effect, unless it is given a different date in the bill itself.
