    Quebec a province of canada had a population with 78% french speaking people. The Quebec Sovereignty Movement, a political and ideological movement initiated by Rene Levesqu wanted a separate political entity for Quebec owning to threat of cultural assimilation and religious differences. Under the pressure of this movement two referendums were held but in both times the majority voted against the separate political entity.
