Compare and contrast the different foreign policy approaches of containment and isolationism during the Cold War.

    Similarities:

    Both policies sought to nullify a potential "domino effect" that would be caused if Communism takes the government of a foreign nation. As this ideology could spread to neighbor countries and cause a regional generalized ideology of Communism.

    Differences:

    Whereas isolationism aimed to repeal a nation from any foreign economic, social or political influences, containment aimed to retain an ideology from spreading to neighboring countries. Both were different approaches to solve the same problem, which was repealing Communism.
