    Removing trade restrictions and similar concerns with trade is one of the reasons that could prompt a country to intervene militarily in another one. Trade concerns were the main reasons for several U. S. interventions in Latin America, now referred to as the Banana Wars.

    Defending territory is another case. An example of this was the War of 1812 between the U. S. and the British territories that are now Canada.

    The case of supporting allies and of promoting political relationships can be seen during WWI and WWII, as many countries that intervened were not directly affected, btu participated because of their closeness with affected countries.

    Finally, the protection of economic interests is a major reason for many wars, as can be seen in most wars of independence or decolonization throughout history.
