Pharoah or The King in Egypt was the embodiment of all aspects of the Egyptian state. He was the chief arbiter over all humans, protecting the weak from the powerful, the head of the administration, the representative of the country toward foreign powers, and the commander-in-chief of the armed forces. The king was also responsible for the welfare of his people, but he and his insignia were untouchable to ordinary mortals. The Egyptian kingship was based on divine right. Because he was the preserver of the God-given order, he unified the people under God.
