In that Diary, he wrote on February 9, that the Confederate army had established a camp in Kingston after having passed through so many difficulties. He wrote that the town of Kingston was a perfect ruin, as the Yankees had destroyed everything they touched. That the once pretty town of Kinston now was in ruins.
