1. The primary causes of poverty in Central America are: Drug trafficking, Government Rivalries and Security and Trust Issues. Extreme drug trafficking has made the region to experience violence and corruption making it very challenging to reach further growth and stability. For example, Honduras highest murder rate in the world clearly shows this problem. Governments' rivalries between the El Salvador and Honduras governments on issues of shores to waterways has created continuing problems on property rights. Border control issues are evident between Belize and Guatemala. In Central America, national security has been a challenge, especially on drug consumption and trafficking.

2. Yes, central America is obtaining International Aid Programs such as the U. S Aid and the Central American Regional Security Initiative (CARSI). The U. S provides approximately $475 million in total foreign assistance to Central America and Mexico. In Mexico, the budgets goals are to strengthen the judicial and security institutions to be able to face drug trafficking, crimes, corruption and money laundering.
