    James Grant was a British Amry officer who served as a major general during the American War for independence. One of his major accomplishment was his service as a Governor of the East Florida.

    Explaination

    Grant participated in the French and Indian war as the major of the 77th Regiment of foot. In 1758, he was assigned to led a team of soldiers that were to determine the strength abilities of Fort Duquesne. He was responsible in commanding an expedition against the Cherokee during the period of anglo-cherokee war. When the British defeted the Spanish and gained fully control of Florida, he was named the Governor of East Florida. As the governor he stopped the Indians from raiding activities.
