The biggest problem though became the mafia, as this gave it an excellent basis for developing and cashing it enormous amounts of money. The mafia took over the alcohol business, and it quickly became a major player in the country, which in turn resulted in decades of mafia related crime and lot of funds being spent of taking it down.
