How is the framing of the Cold War as freedom vs. Totalitarianism similar to the Manifest Destiny argument?

The manifest destiny argument believe that united states was destined to conquer north america by the virtue of God.

Framing cold war as freedom vs totalitarianism make the battle between two ideologies a lot simpler that it actually is. By positioning our country at the 'good side' (Freedom) it is easy for us to vilify the other side.

This make it easier for the government to obtain public support to spread our ideology since taking the good side seems aligned with God's will.
