What enlightenment ideas inspired those living in the American colonies to seek independence from the British

    Many things we could comments about this question, for example some authors says that the reasons or ideas which inspired the Americans colonies to seek the independency from the British power were:

    1) The colonist did not like being taxed for things that had always had free. They immediately began a boycott of British goods.

    2) The Boston tea party was a confrontation between the British Army and Boston people. (Party movement have referred to themselves as historical successor to the Boston protest around 1775).

    3) The battles of Lexington and Concord. The tension was far too high for the king to respond favorably. The colonists began to amass arms and prepare for waht they felt was an inevitable battle with the oppresive British Army.
