When Stalin issued a blockade to West Berlin due to the tensions, the Allies need to reach it. And because the roads are closed, the Allies needed to find a new plan to sustain life in the city.

This is known as the Berlin Airlift. The Allies launched hundreds of flights into Berlin in order to meet their food and other necessary items.
