The courts ruled against segregation legislation.

The president used the National Guard to enforce legislation.

    Explanation:

In Brown v Board Education the U. S Supreme Court ruled against the segregation legislation, prior to this segregation was allowed and legal, not until Brown v Board Education was that the supreme court rouled that school segregation was unconstitutional and ruled that every school should be integrated and should not discriminate anyone by any reason. In order to make this possible, the president used the national guard to enforce this laws, and protect black students that were attending ex-white only schools.
