    I believe the answer here is fascism

    this is because Stalin feared capitalism more than fascism, because of the threat it posed on his communist government. capitalism requires protection of several rights for it to work, and Stalin felt that the idea of Freedoms would bring down the communism government. it explains why initially he had entered into a treaty with Germany instead of the allies.
