Why did malcolm little change his name to malcolm x? answers?

    He felt that "Little" was a name forced on his ancestors by white slave owners, and therefore stood as a scar of racism and slavery that his ancestors were forced into. He chose "X" because it took the place of the original name of his family, which had been erased from his family line.
