Kublai Khan changed China's government practice where under the rule of Kublai Khan, the grandson to Genghis Khan, the power and influence of the Mongols over China was absolute. In 1271, Kublai Khan founded the Yuan dynasty, that governed over present-day China, Mongolia, Korea, and some adjacent parts; thus he seized the role of Emperor of China. By 1279, the Mongol conquest of the Song dynasty came to an end when Kublai Khan became the first non-Han emperor to conquer all of China.
