After the American-Spanish war, Emilio Aguinaldo's opinion of the United States had changed because it became clear to him that the United States had no interest in the liberation of the Philippines and he saw a possibility that the country might achieve its independence. However, his dream of freedom is not that easy for he was captured on March 23, 1901 and agreed to swear allegiance to the United States.
