American use and detonation of atomic bombs above Hoxhim and Nagasaki in August 1945 caused terrible casualties. Long-term effects of life and exposure to radiation are an increase in cancer rates among survivors and defects in newborn babies. According to some subsequent studies, these long-term effects are exaggerated. Whether it is a subsequent attempt to reduce the number of cancer patients, or not, the consequences are equally terrible for mankind.
