It seems that the literature on the Vietnam War has disappeared, as it was raw and real. Unlike the great war novels (red and black, red badge of courage, war and peace, all the quietness of the Western Front, and parting with weapons), read for generations and part of the literary culture Nearby, Vietnamese novels and memoirs are time and place specific. The soldiers and journalists who wrote about the war were close to action. They wrote about the experiences they lived in. Their books were quickly evaluated, but are probably only read by those who now have a special interest in war, or high school students who faced Tim O'Brien in the English curriculum.
