Dutch people colonized the areas of present day Manhattan and Connecticut

    Explanation:

West India Company sponsored 30 families which arrived in North America in 1624, establishing a settlement on present-day Manhattan. The Dutch settlers did not take much of an interest in agriculture, and focused on the more lucrative fur trade. Connecticut was originally settled by Dutch fur traders in 1614. They sailed up the Connecticut River and built a fort near present-day Hartford.
