The region of India that became more powerful after the fall of Gupta was Huns who had conquered much of the northwestern section of Gupta territory by 500 CE. They adopted Hinduism and which was assimilated into Indian society. The Empire of the Guptas fell as a direct consequence of the invasions of Central Asian nomads on horses known as the 'White Huns' (Śveta Hūṇa) in Indian sources. The 'Huns,' who sometimes known Hephthalites or Ephthalites or Alchons, posed a threat to Persians too.
