While, On August 5, 1962, Nelson Mandela was arrested, an arrest that set in motion a chain of events making Nelson Mandela a household name all over the world. This eventually brought an end to the South African Apartheid rule, a political system used by the British. Finally, Nelson Mandela became the president of South Africa, and in 1993 he received the Nobel Peace Prize one of the highest honors that human beings bestow upon each other.
