The Japanese love their country. They love their culture. The major effect of Japanese Imperialism was that in WWII they were fully prepared to die for "the eternal and divine Japan" in which they believed. As a Scot, I feel much the same about Scotland and its unique and brilliant culture as the Japanese feel about Japan, but I am not prepared to die for these beliefs.
