    Democratic-Republican Party was formed by Thomas Jefferson and James Madison in 1792. The chief idea is to oppose the centralizing policies of the Federalist party whose leader was Alexander Hamilton. Democratic-Republican party opposed the new constitution, which included many politicians which form one fraction in Congress and called themselves Republicans.
